The following books are the ones we recommended on Saturday morning and are designed to help us as parents in furthering both our understanding of the ultimate goal of our parenting, and our role as a parent with that goal in view.

If Saturday’s seminar was just the bare bones, these books will flesh out the detail.  We have ordered in a number of each title and they should be available soon!

What the Bible Says About Parenting by John MacArthur

parenitng-macarthur.jpg

Experienced pastor, teacher, father and grandfather presents solid principles of biblical parenting - not just parenting advice from a Christian perspective – with great clarity and deep insight.

This book helpfully defines our children’s greatest needs and presents the good news of the gospel that our children need to hear in a clear, concise way.

MacArthur also equips both dad and mum in their respective roles and teaches us how we, as parents, can equip and train our children towards godly wisdom.

Available from the church book stall for £6!

Shepherding A Child’s Heart by Tedd Tripp

shepherding-tripp.jpgTedd Tripp draws on over 20 years of experience as a pastor, counsellor, school administrator and father in providing solid, trustworthy, biblical help for parents.

Written for parents of children of any age, this insightful book provides perspectives and procedures for shepherding your child’s heart towards the gospel.  This book teaches you what your goals should be and how to pursue these ends practically.

It will flesh out for you the point we made during saturday’s seminar about our role as parents in not just addressing our children on the “what” of sin, but the “why” as well.

It is an essentail read, laying out the fundamental foundations and vital guidelines for parenting that glorifies God.  You won’t find a more excellent guide!

Available from the church book stall for £7!
