This Saturday just gone past (15th October), young adults from across South Wales and the West of England gathered at the Christchurch Centre, in Newport for a day devoted to worshipping Jesus and freshly considering what’s important for their lives.
A huge thanks to some of our worship team (Jadie Stiven, Andy Maybury, Artur Lieder, Tim & Kate Hacker, Tom Haigh) who also came across and did a stellar job leading us in worship during one of the sessions! (You can see them in action in this photo to the right!)
The simple aim for the Priority Conference was to consider the stuff that really matters; the gospel, the church, and the mission and reflect what difference these should make in our lives. Nathan Smith from Grace Church Bristol, Gareth Lloyd from Sovereign Grace Church, Merthyr and Lewis Roderick from Christchurch Newport showed us what these priorities look like for a Christian.
Session 1 – The Priority of The Gospel (Ephesians 4:1) – by Gareth Lloyd
Gareth Lloyd takes us to Ephesians 4 and shows us the only true response to the gospel of Grace is grace saturated living. But so often our instinct is anything, everything but.
Session 2 – The Priority of The Church (Ephesians 2:11-19) – by Lewis Roderick
In a culture the exalts the individual the triune God calls the christian to community, Lewis Roderick takes us to Ephesians 2 and shows us the priority of the church.
Session 3 – The Priority of Mission (Acts 1:1-14) – by Nathan Smith
Nathan Smith gives us an overview of the book of Acts and shows us the heart, extent and power of the mission Christ calls us to.

Young adults from across South Wales and the West of England are gathering at the Christchurch Centre to worship Jesus and consider what’s important. If you’re planning on coming (it’s not too late to sign up!), below is some information which you might find helpful.
We’re watching a certain rugby match…
Some months ago, when we first organised PRIORITY, we chose the date so as to not clash with anything… way back then, there was no chance of it clashing with anyone’s interests in the Rugby World Cup… no way were Wales still going to be in it at the semi final stage!
But things have changed, and so have our plans. Christchurch will be open at 8:45am and from 9am we’ll be showing the match live with coffee on tap for those who want to watch it. At half time, there’ll be bacon rolls for everyone, so if you’d rather just show up for breakfast, make it to the building for 9:40am in time to start the first session at 10:30am.
You can pay on the day.
It’s not too late to sign up and hand over your fiver electronically. Follow the link to get it done. But if you’d rather pay on the day, you can do that too. All you have to do is get in touch with Nathan and give us the heads up that you’re coming, and we’ll see you then.
Need a lift across the bridge?
Priority is taking place at the Christchurch Centre in Newport, South Wales. If you need a lift there and back, please contact Nathan.
Twice a month on Sunday nights LIFE (our 18-30′s singles and students group) gather for dedicated teaching, discipleship and small group discussion. These times are designed to equip them with discernment and wisdom, so that they might think biblically about a whole range of issues and topics that are specific to this season of life.
To begin this year, LIFE is going to be studying Joshua Harris’ latest book, Dug Down Deep. It’s a well written, insightful, and challenging read!
Dug Down Deep is a book about doctrine. Josh makes it clear that everybody is a theologian. Theology is simply what we believe about God, and we all believe stuff about God. The question is, are you a good theologian or a bad one?
We’ve chosen this book to study together because theology matters. As Josh says: “Theology matters, because if we get it wrong, then our whole life will be wrong.”
But theology isn’t supposed to be boring. On the contrary, good, biblical theology is at the heart of a vibrant, loving relationship with God. Josh comments: “I write in hopes that you’ll catch a glimpse of how good and beautiful the old paths of orthodoxy are, how firm and trustworthy the solid rock of sound doctrine can be for your life.”
For more info about Dug Down Deep you can check out Josh’s book blog, read a review, read the first chapter online, or watch one of the videos that were made for/about the book below!
Copies are available to anyone in our LIFE group for a fantastical £5!!! (that’s over 50% off the RRP!). Email us to get a copy now!
